Straight-laced, veterinary surgeon, Summer Wynters is ready to break the rules. And who better to break them with than the most irreverent of all men, mega rock star Malcolm Angel? With one last summer free from work obligations, Summer moves to New York City, and at the coaxing of her friend, pretends to be a model so she can spend one wild night with Malcolm.

Rock star, Malcolm Angel, tortured by a dark past, may be the poet laureate of romance, but he, like science-minded Summer, has never believed in romantic love. How could he? With his history, he doesn’t deserve to be loved.

When Summer’s honesty, kindness, and exuberance for life changes his perspective, the two discover they are in deeper than either dreamed possible. But when Malcolm discovers Summer’s been perpetuating a lie, will he forgive her? Even if forgiveness is possible, can a man immune to love teach someone else to believe in it?

“How did you go through life with that name…?” Malcolm’s eyes flashed with happiness. “I mean, if I wrote it, people would crucify me. What were your parents thinking?”
Summer froze.
“I mean, do they love you at all?” Malcolm chuckled.
Summer’s feet refused to move, and her arms lay limp at her side.
“Summer?” Malcolm’s smile faded. “Sum?”
The sound of her nickname spoken by Malcolm did her in. She desperately fought the mounting tears.
Malcolm stared at her. “It’s not your name you’re upset about, is it?”
Summer clenched her jaw and shook her head.
“I’m sorry.” His voice was low and modulated.
She nodded, looking at Malcolm, and wanting, for the first time ever, to have someone make it all okay. To have him make it all okay.
Malcolm grew quiet. They stood there for whole minutes. “I’m sorry if I touched on a sore subject. Really.”
Summer stared at him—this man who had everything except the answer she needed. How could he be so closed off? How could he care so little about the pain of another living creature?
He stepped forward then, as if reading her mind, took her hand gently, and leaned over, speaking quietly into her ear. “It’s not that I don’t care.”
Those few words found a place deep in Summer’s soul.
Malcolm stood tall, and Summer’s eyes followed him. He reached out and stroked her cheek. “But I’ve got nothing more to give than today.”

Synopsis

Ben

Those gold eyes were the first thing I noticed. I wanted more than anything to get lost in them, drown in her, to let go of my fears and doubts my past had left behind. But it wasn’t just me I had to consider. My son came first. She's a force to be reckoned with, though. She was everywhere, in my dreams even, tempting me to throw caution to the wind. And I was weak. I gave into my clawing desire and let myself enjoy one night with her, having no clue she’d change me forever. Once wasn't enough. I became addicted. I craved her – her scent, her skin, her smile, her eyes…her love. I need Samantha. Samantha My life was uncomplicated. It was free and easy. Then I met him, the man with the blue-violet eyes that entranced me. I had a feeling I was making a big mistake when agreeing to one night of carnal bliss, but I was unable to walk away. I just couldn’t have foreseen how big of one it was. He turned my world upside-down, working his way into my heart until it beat only for him. Now everything is complex, and there are secrets he’s not telling me. Will he ever let me in? Time would tell, but one thing is sure – I’d walk through hell and back, feel the blistering lick of each flame against my flesh, for just the promise of Ben. Not intended for anyone under the age of eighteen due to language and sexual content. Note from the author: Fated Bliss is the second book in The Bliss Series, and though it is recommended to read Finding Bliss first, it’s not needed. Fated Bliss is a standalone novel with an HEA.

Excerpt

“Oh, my God,” Samantha breathed, her words drowned out by the pillow against her face. She was laying on her stomach, her ass up in the air, with both hands clutching the comforter. She never looked more spellbinding. “Spread them wider,” I demanded. Her body swayed from side to side as she widened her stance. “Perfect,” I murmured and licked her again. Heavy pants reverberated through the room. The taste of her on my lips was ambrosia, better than anything in the world. She was delicious. I dipped my tongue inside her, her pussy clenching around me. As she rocked against me, wedging my tongue deeper, I about spilled myself all over she sheets. Sassy girl. Redoubling my efforts, I moaned around her pussy and fingered her clit. “Ben,” she groaned. “I need you.” “Just a second,” I told her, pulling away. As I sat back on my haunches, I slipped two fingers inside her and watched in fascination as her body accepted them. Magnificent. She was a dream, letting me do what I wanted to her body in every way imaginable. “You were beautiful tonight,” I whispered, nipping her ass cheek. “But you look decadent like this.” She always looked decadent after orgasming, her face dreamy, her skin misted with sweat. I was working her into orgasm number three, and she thrived under it gloriously. “If you had it your way, we wouldn’t leave the room,” she replied, then moaned loudly as I flicked her clit. “You’re right.” I slapped her bottom. It wasn’t enough to hurt her, just sting a tiny bit. She loved it. “Oh, God,” she mewled. I took her clit between two fingers and pinched lightly. “Please, Ben…inside now. Enough is enough.” I added a third finger, getting her ready for me. “Is that better?” I teased. “No. You. I want you inside me,” she whined. “I am inside you, baby girl.” I twisted my fingers and slid them across her g-spot. She shuddered hard. “You know what I mean.” “Tell me.” “You’re an asshole – you know that?” That mouth. “Samantha…” “Fine. Okay, I’ll say it!” she griped, shooting fire at me over her shoulder. “I want your cock.” “Mmmm, you know exactly what to say to turn me on.” Hearing her say dirty words spurred me higher. I leaned in and licked her some more, tasting her essence. Samantha cried out, her legs trembling. Enough. I was hurting already. If she only knew how much it tormented me when she pleaded. It made my balls ache and my cock excruciatingly hard. There was nothing better than Samantha delirious with need and begging for what only I could give her. I savored her for a few more moments. She was lingering right on the precipice, and I wanted to draw it out a little bit more. Right when she was about to sail over the cliff, I pulled away and slipped my fingers from her. “No!” she wailed. “Shhh,” I whispered, petting her back, and scooted closer. “I’ve got you.” I took myself in hand and pressed against her entrance. As she shuddered again, I thrust all the way home. God, nothing has ever felt so good. “Ahhh!” Samantha screamed, her head flying back. All of her gorgeous hair cascaded down her back as she lifted herself on her elbows. Iridescent eyes met mine as she watched me thrust into her. I gazed into them, hoping she saw all the things I had yet said. By the swirling adulation staring back at me, I believed she did. I kept my rhythm slow, wanting to drive her insane. She was already spasming around me, but she wouldn’t find her release at this pace. I’d been inside her enough to know. Gripping her hips, I helped her drive herself on me. With every stroke, her ass shook and jiggled. It was a pretty sight, enough so that I started pounding into her, my need getting the better of me. “Yes,” Samantha hissed, meeting my demands. “Honey…yes.” “Touch yourself for me, sweetheart.” Samantha shifted as I took her, sinking myself into her searing heat over and over again. Fingers slipped around the base of my cock as she felt us together, ripping a gasp from my throat. “You feel amazin’, handsome,” she purred throatily. “Keep doing that and it won’t last long,” I warned, my voice guttural. “Good.”

Independent and dedicatedly single, Rogue Bruce enjoys running Castle Baillie with her Aunt Baillie from America. They specialize in romantic Elizabethan-themed weddings, complete with resident ghost, Lord Kai (nothing like a haunted castle to set the mood for love). But love is something Rogue is not the least bit interested in. Content with her work and stable of horses, no man is necessary for her happiness.

Matchmaking is in the air, though, focusing on Bruce MacKenzie, a Thor in plaid and jeans from town, and Jonathan Olson, a snobbish Rhett Butler type. With two men after her heart (she’d thought safely locked away), Rogue is torn with confusion. Murder and a psychic yank the soundtrack of Rogue’s life from romantic to scary, while she has choices to make in this sizzling triangle.
You can pick up your copy at Amazon.

“Who created these torture devices for women?” Rogue muttered as the high-heeled ankle boots her glittery Seattle friend, Rafael, had picked out for her squeezed her toes. Dashing around the white-silk-draped chairs inside the reception tent set up on the castle grounds, she lifted her floor-length emerald skirt of fluff and ribbons and screamed internally about her aching feet. Her steps made soft clicks on the temporary polished flooring. “Spike heels make my legs look better, she tells me. Heels? Seriously? Buried under twenty yards of bloody material, no one will notice, I swear, and this dress weighs a ton.”
Why must my bloody underwear be authentic if no one knows or sees it? Seriously, another full day of endless agony in this restrictive Elizabethan costume of layered torture. You know an evil man must have created the corset. No woman would have designed something so miserable and called it fashionable. How many times had she pleaded with Aunt Baillie to let her wear something soft, something comfortable like pants and a jacket? Her aunt’s normally sweet face would transform into a stony glare, forcing Rogue to relent and don one of the many costumes made specifically for her.
“The Baillie Castle Bed and Breakfast promises a fairy-tale environment for couples in love and bridal parties and a stop-time fantasy for families and guests,” Rogue mimicked her American aunt and business partner. “These expensive weddings pay the taxes and daily upkeep of your renovated castle.”
Rogue could barely breathe in the tightly wrapped bodice as she rounded out of the heated white tent, her eyes on the temporary stone path placed in the soggy Scottish mud. Plowing into something solid, Rogue cursed and frantically reached out, wobbling on the spiked heels. Grabbing at anything, her fingers found soft, crushable flannel before warm, strong hands wrapped around her wrists. Staring at the manly fingers holding her steady, Rogue’s eyes traveled up the long, chiseled arms of a young man to his concerned face, locking eyes with her.
“Ya be all right, miss?”
His baritone voice tickled her ears, causing the breath to catch in her throat as the heat from his grasp flushed in a wave across her face. All she could handle was a weak nod while staring at his serious face framed with shaggy blond hair, a chill breeze lifting the bangs from his ruddy forehead. His oddly green eyes blinked above a well-freckled nose and broke the spell.

Sometimes white magic can turn dark. Even with the best intentions.
When Angelica, a white witch, placed a protective curse over her granddaughter, Nancy, in a bid to keep her safe from society and her own powers until she was old enough to understand, she had no idea of the consequences.

On the 31st of October, a grown up Nancy holds her annual Halloween party. Only this year she strays away from her traditional festivities that include her famous Halloween punch, and dancing to the Monster Mash, and opts for a spookier night. With the help of her friends, Nancy will be holding a séance with her new Ouija board. But little does she know that the protective curse her grandmother secretly cast over twenty-seven years ago is lifted that very night.

A spirit is summoned and Nancy begins a journey of sexual desire and love that she will never forget.

Was this summoning pure coincidence, magic, or something else? Only time will tell.

Lies, secrets, covens, dark forces, and nightmares lie just around the corner for Nancy. But at the end of it all, will she be able to help the man she has fallen for and fulfil his wish of putting his wandering soul to rest? And will there be a price?
Will true love conquer or be taken?

Nancy is about to find out.

Once her guests have settled, Nancy begins.
“First things first, I would like to thank you all for coming to my party! Next, before we get started with this, I would like to allocate some special roles.”
She puts a nervous-looking Sophie out of her misery first. “Sophie – you, Declan and James are all the energisers.”
It doesn’t seem to reassure Sophie, so Nancy goes on, “Don’t worry, all you have to do is sit here and let the rest of us look like fools.” Nancy smiles in her direction to reassure her, prompting a tiny smile back.
Reassured, she continues, “Okay, Eve, you are interpreter. Hence the pen and paper. Your job is to write down any answers, numbers or letters we get from the board.”
Eve grins. “Gotcha.”
Then, staring her straight in the eye, Nancy declares Lucy the designated ‘screamer’.
“What the hell’s a screamer, Nance?”
She chuckles. “Basically, a screamer is the person who you think will wet themselves before anyone else and run home crying.”
Lucy gives her a knowing look, “Well I think that title should belong to you, Nance. Don’t you?”
“Maybe, but I am the leader since it’s my party and my Ouija.”
Lucy looks away and takes a sip of her drink. No-one else seems to have a problem with their position, so leader Nancy decides that it’s time to play. She turns the music down to a whisper.
Pressing her fingers down on both bottom corners of the board, she drags it along the table towards her. “Now. To start we all must concentrate and have no negative thoughts, or this won’t work. Alright?”
Everybody nods, and Nancy places one finger from each hand on the planchette. Trying not to giggle, she asks the first question of the night.
“Is anyone there?”
The room is deadly silent; only the drone of the bass-driven music can be heard. She tries to make eye contact with her guests, but they’re all staring down at the board, waiting for her fingers to move. Jeez, they really are taking this seriously.
Nothing happens, so she asks again.
“Is there anyone there who wishes to make contact with us?”
They all stare; mesmerized by the piece of wood and the hope that something might just happen. The kitchen door creaks and then pushes open. Lucy screams. Everybody, including the men, jump up off their chairs and head sharpish for the other end of the room.
With every hair on her body stood to panicked attention, Nancy tries to open the lounge door with her trembling hands... until she realises what’s happened when she notices her cat strolling in like he owns the place.
It prompts the gang to burst out into laughter, breaking the onset of tension. Eventually, they manage to compose themselves, all admitting out loud that this Ouija lark is actually quite fun and, hey, they should try to really contact someone. This time with the doors closed, so no cats can further impede.
Making their way back to the table, Nancy scoops up Salem. Bending over and shooing her little friend off out the door, Nancy feels inappropriate eyes burning holes through her dress.
Twisting her head to see who is looking, she’s surprised that not a single one of them is peeking her way. And yet... the feeling of being watched still lingers. Straightening her chair back up from the panic before, she notices that the scent of the air has changed; it smells unfamiliar, musky, and manly. The flames of the candles are flickering more aggressively, as if there were a window open. Putting it down to James’s aftershave and the fact that they all just ran across the room, she takes her seat back at the head of the table and they start again.
“Is there anyone there?” Nancy asks, her fingers back on the wooden heart. They’re left hanging again, so she dashes to the kitchen to get the instruction booklet. Opening the cutlery drawer, that being watched feeling appears again and a cold breeze strokes the back of her bare neck. It sends shivers through her entire body. Snatching up the booklet, she darts back to the safety of her friends.
With the right passage at the ready and a number of sentences to choose from, she returns her fingers to the planchette and says, “Spirit, please come forward and give us guidance.”
Still, nothing. Not so much as a blown-out flame. She chooses another calling. “Spirit, do you have a message for one of us?”
Again they’re left hanging. So Nancy decides to make up her own chant, if only to get a reaction out of her friends. “Spirit, are there any hot, tall, dark, handsome men out there who are good in bed?”
Everyone giggles. In the midst of the laughter, Nancy’s ear suddenly turns icy. And then she hears a whisper.
Yes...
Her body freezes in fear.

A knock on my office door causes me to stop working. “Zach?” I push my glasses up the bridge of my nose and stand. I should’ve known avoiding him wasn’t really going to work when he can roll up any ol’ time he wants. It was only a matter of time. “Sorry to stop by without callin’, but the other night wasn’t exactly the best place for us to talk.” He removes his hat and tosses it on the chair. “I saw you in town yesterday trying to be incognito. Figured we should try to be civil.” Civil? He can’t just show his face when he wants. He doesn’t belong here. I don’t want to see him at all, much less in my home, the one place that’s my safe haven. Damn him for not taking the fucking hint. “Your mother said you were out here. She didn’t throw something at me, so I took that as a good sign.” “What are you doing here?” I stand, slamming my hand on the desk. “My mother may not have thrown anything because she’s a proper Southern woman, but I’m not anymore. I’ve spent enough time in the North to not give a shit if I pelt you in the head with a stapler!” I grab it off the desk and rear back. “Whoa! Whoa!” he says with his hands raised. “I’m not coming to start anything. I just want to see how you are. I’ve missed you.” “Asshole!” I throw the stapler at his head. “You don’t get to miss me!” He ducks as it makes a loud bang against the wall. Zach’s eyes widen as his lips turn up. “Seems all those years watching me play ball taught you how to throw.” I grab the next thing I see. “You apparently sucked at teaching!” “Felicia and I wanted to invite you over for dinner.” He has lost his damn mind. Zach lets out a sigh and moves closer. “I know it could be awkward, but I figured if . . .” “If what? That there’s a chance we could be friends? Hang out even? You need your head examined if you think that’ll happen.” I don’t know if maybe he forgot how we ended things. “Pres,” he chides. “Don’t ‘Pres’ me! You have some nerve showing up here.” “It was a long time ago.” I want to sock him in the face. “Leave,” I demand. Zach walks closer and crosses his arms across his chest. “I’m not leaving until we settle this. I want us to get things out in the air.” “Fine.” I grab the paper clip holder and toss it.                       GENRE: Contemporary Suspense Thriller

Picture
High school is torture for Steven Walthurst, and home isn’t a whole lot better. The only place that offers respite is an abandoned tree house at the edge of town. But something lurks in the nearby woods, and the long line of elm trees has a clear message for Steven: keep out.

Then one day, Steven finds a little girl lying unconscious, perilously close to the woods. As the two get to know one another, Steven experiences real friendship for the first time—and gets closer than ever to knowing the darkness that skulks between the trees.

He dedicates himself to keeping his new friend safe, but the tranquility of their fragile hidden world doesn’t last long. When an act of cruelty pushes Steven to his limits, his secrets—and those of the dark woods—come close to unraveling, threatening to destroy the one thing making his teenage life bearable. Can Steven save everything he’s built from crumbling under the pressure?

Picture
“What happened yesterday?” Sandy asked when they met during break.
“Didn’t you see that thing behind my back?”
“No. What thing?”
“The red-eyed thing. It was chasing me. Didn’t you see it?”
“No. You told me to run if something happened to you. So the moment you screamed and bolted, I ran the other way. But I didn’t see anything.”
“Yeah, the creature was chasing me. So I ran.”
“Creature? Steven, that’s terrible!”
“I was so worried it would turn around and chase you instead.”
“It couldn’t have. I was out of the woods and across the creek in less than a minute. I waited for you at the clearing for another minute but I was scared out of my wits so I didn’t stay long. I really wanted to come to your house and see if you were all right, but Nanny Gwen doesn’t let me go out after dark.” Sandy’s words tumbled out in rapid succession.
“That’s okay, Sandy. It was my fault. I should have stopped by your house before going back last night. It would have saved both of us a lot of worry.”
“What do you think it was?”
“I don’t know. It looked like some dark creature with two red eyes.”
“This is so scary. I’m so glad you’re okay, Steven. I was so worried last night, I couldn’t sleep. And this morning, I decided to come early and wait for you outside. If you hadn’t turned up, I was going to tell Ms. Clapthorne everything, but then I couldn’t imagine you…” Sandy’s voice quavered and she shook her head.
“I had a bad night too. I kept having these weird dreams of being chased in the woods. I’m sorry I got you wrapped up in all this.” After some thought, he added, “You didn’t tell Molly, did you?”
“No. Of course not. I didn’t tell anyone.” Looking a little hurt, she opened her lunchbox and removed a slice of pizza. Steven licked his lips and swallowed. “So, how did you escape the creature in the end?” Sandy asked, offering him a slice too. He took it gratefully.
“I don’t know. I was running one minute and then the next minute, everything went black. When I woke up, I was lying by the creek, all wet. I must have crossed the creek, tripped on something, and blacked out. I don’t really know.” He wasn’t sure exactly what had happened in there, but he had a feeling his momma’s spy had something to do with it. He took a huge bite of the pizza, then added, “I’m glad we’re both okay.”
“Yeah,” Sandy said, her forehead wrinkled in deep thought. She wasn’t eating, and Steven wondered who in their right mind would delay eating something as amazing as pepperoni and beef pizza. Madness.

A tall, slender figure stood before the wall, a dim shadow outlined in sharp angles by the golden light. Prompted by some silent cue, it stepped into the light and seemed to shrink, as if walking away. Suddenly, it disappeared, and the yellow light began to fade. Before Sabine knew what was happening, the glow winked out so abruptly that bright spots danced through her vision. She waited for her eyes to adjust to the darkness.

When she could see once more, the wall looked normal, each brick placed upon another in its ordinary manner.

Magic! Sabine began to tremble.

PROMETHEUS – One of the keenest Titans to ever walk the earth. Until, that is, his weakness for the human race resulted in his imprisonment.

For thousands of years, Prometheus’s only certainty was his daily torture at Zeus’s hand. Now, unchained by the Eternal Guardians, he spends his days in solitude, trying to forget the past. He’s vowed no allegiance in the war between mortal and immortal, but when a beautiful maiden seeks him out and begs for his help, he’s once again powerless to say no. But she has a secret of her own, and if Prometheus doesn’t discover what she’s hiding in time, the world won’t simply find itself embroiled in a battle between good and evil, it will fall in total domination to Prometheus’s greatest enemy.

Excerpt-

“Find me. I’m waiting, Titos. I’m waiting for you...”

She always called him Titos in his hallucinations. A nickname that translated to fire. One that now brought him around to stare down the dark and empty hallway even though he knew she wasn’t real.

Nothing moved. No sound met his ears. The castle was as silent as it had been since the day he’d arrived. But his spine tingled with apprehension, and his god-sense, something he rarely relied on because no one knew where he was, shot a warning blare straight through his ears.

The witches in the valley at the base of Mt. Parnithia had told him this castle in the Argolean realm had once belonged to an evil sorcerer who’d chosen darkness over light. That sorcerer’s quest for power had cost him his life, and he now resided in the lowest levels of Tartarus, tortured endlessly by Hades much as Prometheus had been tortured by Zeus. His energy still lingered, though. A vile and murky energy Prometheus felt vibrating in his bones. As a divine being, Prometheus wasn’t worried that energy would claim him—he was too strong for that—but he couldn’t help but wonder if the sorcerer’s dark energy was somehow affecting him. Could it be the source of the voice?

“Titos... I’m waiting...”

“Who’s there?” he called.

Silence met his ears. His pulse ticked up as he scanned the darkened corridor, the only light coming from the torch behind him. Still nothing moved. Even the wind outside the castle walls had died down as if it too were afraid to utter a sound.

His imagination. It had to be. A hallucination or whatever the fuck he wanted to call it. Frowning, he turned away only to catch a flash of white out of the corner of his eye.

He whipped back. Some kind of gauzy fabric disappeared into the library, followed by the sound of laughter.

Sexy, feminine laughter.

From Elisabeth: “I was never one of those people who knew they wanted to be an author at the age of six. I didn’t have imaginary friends. I didn’t write stories in my journal or entertain my relatives by firelight after Thanksgiving dinner. For the most part, I was just a normal, everyday kid. I liked to read, but I wasn’t exceptional at it. And when my teachers complimented me on my writing abilities, I brushed them off. I did, however, always have a penchant for the unique and absurd. A tyrant by day, a playboy by night. That is the reputation that precedes Richard VanRyan. He lives life the way he wants, no concern for the opinion of others. He cares for no one, is completely unrepentant, and he has no desire to change his ways.
Katharine Elliott works under Richard as his PA. She despises him and his questionable ethics, but endures all the garbage he sends her way, because she needs the job. Her end goal is far more important than the daily abuse and demands she tolerates from her nasty tyrant of a boss. Until the day, he asks her for something she never expected. A new role with a personal contract — fiancée instead of PA. What happens when two people who loathe each other, have to live together and act as though they are madly in love? Sparks. That’s what happens. Can the power of love really change a person? Will they survive the contract? What do you do when the one person you hate the most becomes the one person you can’t live without?

I tilted my head. “I apologize. I’ll try to do better. Is there anything else you want since we’re putting everything on the table?” She hesitated, her fingers worrying the ugly shirt she wore. “Spit it out.” “You can’t, um, you can’t mess around while we’re doing . . . while we’re together.” “Mess around?” She looked everywhere but at me. “You can’t sleep with other women. I won’t be humiliated like that.” “So what you’re saying is: I can’t fuck anyone?” Her cheeks were so red I thought her head would explode; however, she straightened her shoulders and looked right at me. “Yes.” This was too fun for me. “Yes, I can fuck around?” “No!” “No fucking,” I enunciated the last word. “No.” “You expect me to remain celibate the whole time?” I asked, now incredulous. “I will be, so I expect you to do the same.” I snorted. “I doubt it’s anything new for you.” She threw up her hands. “That’s it. You want to fuck someone? Go fuck yourself, VanRyan.”
Melanie Moreland lives a happy and content life in a quiet area of Ontario with her beloved husband of twenty-six-plus years. Nothing means more to her than her friends and family, and she cherishes every moment spent with them. Known as the quiet one with the big laugh, Melanie works at a local university and for its football team. Her job, while demanding, is rewarding as she cheers on her team to victory. While seriously addicted to coffee, and highly challenged with all things computer-related and technical, she relishes baking, cooking, and trying new recipes for people to sample. She loves to throw dinner parties, and also enjoys travelling, here and abroad, but finds coming home is always the best part of any trip. Melanie delights in a good romance story with some bumps along the way, but is a true believer in happily ever after. When her head isn’t buried in a book, it is bent over a keyboard, furiously typing away as her characters dictate their creative storylines to her, often with a large glass of wine keeping her company. Book Excerpt:

Katie flagged down the waiter for another round of appletinis. She turned off her phone to eliminate any disruption in the evening’s events. She surveyed the room diligently, nodding in satisfaction. The bar was classy. Oak panels stained deep red layered the floor with matching rafters up above. It was the kind of place that lawyers and corporate business-types frequented. Tonight it was bustling with the usual crowd. Waiters played the dodging game, weaving in and out of groups perfectly without ever spilling a drop. As the waiter brought the drinks to the table, Katie shifted her weight and repositioned her legs. Whether or not she was aware of it, she moved ever-so-subtlety closer to Dylan. Katie had never cheated on Evan before, though she had come close a few times. Flirting and sending the wrong message to guys happened all the time with her. It made guys take chances that crossed the line with remarks and gestures most would consider inappropriate for a married woman. Katie desperately craved attention. The attention of any male in the room. Tonight she had Dylan’s.
