It is a little known fact that Kit was raised in the wild by a marauding gang of octopuses. It wasn't until she was 25 that she was discovered by a traveling National Geographic scientist and brought back to civilization. This is sometimes apparent in the way that she attempts to escape through tubes when startled.
Her transition to normalcy has been slow, but scientists predict that she will have mastered basics such as fork use sometime in the next year. More complex skills, such as proper grocery store etiquette, may be forever outside her reach. Kit can be found cavorting about the web at her blog (http://landsquidattack.wordpress.com) or website (http://kitcampbellbooks.com), on Pinterest (https://www.pinterest.com/campbell1091/), and even occasionally on Twitter (http://www.twitter.com/KitCampbell). |

“He was really shot twice in the same spot, Doctor? Pretty unlucky.”
“Or very lucky! One centimeter to the right for either bullet and we would have lost south Florida’s best detectives.” They sped along, white cloaks flapping behind.
“He’s that good? What makes him so special?”
“It’s hard to quantify, especially since I’m not into police work, but he seems to have an uncanny instinct about crimes. He was in the right place at the right time for two vicious killers that no one else came close to catching. The first wound was touch and go. If his partner finds him thirty minutes later, he would have bled out. I treated him then, too. Six weeks in a coma, and then the rehab. Never saw a more dedicated man.”
Conversation paused while they visited a patient recovering from kidney surgery. Back in the hallway, the intern tugged the doctor’s sleeve.
“So what happened then?”
“When?”
“To Detective Warner? He got shot again?”
“Of course. That’s why he’s here. After the Angel of Death killings.”
“The what? I don’t…”
“You new here, McCauley?”
“Yeah. Just came from Chicago for my internship.”
“Okay. Well, after Warner recovered from the Leordano affair, a new serial killer popped up. The press dubbed him the Angel of Death. Killed a bunch of beautiful young women. Bad headaches… near-migraines… and terrible nightmares plagued Warner then. The result of his previous wound, I suppose. Didn’t stop him though. He tracked down the guy when everyone else was stumped. The killer died in another shoot-out and Warner ended up with us again. The man is a bona fide hero.”
“Wow!” McCauley said.
“Yeah,” Doctor Kent replied, “but don’t tell him that. Just doing the job, as far as he’s concerned. We need more cops around like Al Warner.”
“Now, let’s see how this lady is doing,” he said, entering the next room.

“We certainly need some now. Maybe they’re a sign things will get better.”
Kade pondered that. Right now, it didn’t seem things were all that bad. In fact, it was almost out of a storybook. The water softly slapping the sides of the boat, the gentle rocking motion, the full moon slowly rising above, the twinkling of the stars, a salty breeze stirring around them. They were all conspiring to create a romantic scene good enough for a movie. Where the hero takes the girl into his arms and kisses her.
Kade peeked over at Piper, noticing the blush in her cheeks, the hooded way she was watching him and wondered if the same thoughts were also going through her mind. Was it possible?
First the dolphins, then the moonlight skipping along the water, the stars shining, the water playing tricks. They were a lethal mixture for one’s heart. At least his. He felt like he was falling overboard.

Is someone here?
He looked up just as Belle stepped into his doorway. His heart skipped. What did Belle’s expression mean? Confusion? Anger? Hope? “Hello.”
Belle swallowed hard. “Are you the one who called Judy last night?”
Okay, what had he done now? “Uh, yes. I—I thought—it was so late, and no one else was here.”
“You had a ticket waiting for her at the airport and got Leroy to meet her?”
“Yes.”
“And gave her a job and insurance?”
“I talked to HR, yes.”
Some huge storm battled behind Belle’s midnight blue eyes. He didn’t seem to be able to catch his breath. He just gasped and clutched his chest. Magnus stood. “Are you okay? Can I get you water?”
Suddenly Belle took off like a gazelle that had spotted a lion—except he ran to the lion. In three bounding steps, he crossed the office and hurled himself at Magnus. Before Magnus could prepare, a tall, slim body hit him full force, arms wrapping around his neck. “Thank you. Thank you. Oh my God, how can I ever thank you?”
Magnus lost his balance and staggered, arms coming around Belle, falling until his butt hit the office chair, which rolled back. They smacked the wall with Belle sprawled on his lap. He gasped for breath, and the exhale came out as a laugh. It was like having the world’s cutest dalmatian on his lap—a dalmatian he’d like to kiss and embrace and otherwise manhandle. Dream on.
Belle kept hugging and muttering, “Thank you. Thank you.”
Magnus adjusted Belle a little so he was actually sitting on Magnus’s lap but didn’t make a big enough thing out of it to scare him off. Hell, this was a moment to savor and prolong.
Finally Belle stopped wiggling, which was good, since the vibration was getting to Magnus’s cock. Belle stilled and seemed to hesitate. Reluctance or embarrassment? He sat back and looked into Magnus’s face. “Hi.”
“Hi.” Magnus couldn’t help smiling, even though the effect wasn’t really friendly. “I’m very glad you’re happy.”
“No one’s ever done such a wonderful thing for me before.”
Magnus tried to be corporate and fatherly—very challenging in his current position. “It’s the mission of this company to help women.”
“Yes, but this was very personal. I’ll be grateful all my life.”
“I’m glad.” His heart beat so hard they both should have been able to hear it.
Belle looked down at where he was firmly planted on Magnus’s lap. “I guess I was a bit more
enthusiastic than I planned.”
“You don’t hear me complaining.”
Belle slowly looked up at Magnus’s face, which made Magnus want to cringe or hide. Too close. Belle cocked his head and inspected every inch of Magnus’s ruined landscape of a face. Slowly, he leaned forward and kissed the scar across the bridge of Magnus’s nose. He whispered, “In for a penny—” and his mouth moved south until he kissed the distorted corner of Magnus’s mouth.

Mating Call
By BA Tortuga
Genre: Menage Paranormal Romance
Publisher: All Romance eBooks
Date of Publication: June 1, 2016
Stephanie has three rules when it comes to her relationship with werewolves Shaw and Jordan—keep their lusty encounters casual, never invade each other’s space, and no biting. The boys have always seemed perfectly fine with all that, leaving her plenty of time to do her magick and keep her shop going.
When the local pack leader gives Jordan and Shaw an ultimatum—find a mate or find another city to live in—she finds she must rethink her rules or lose her lovers forever.
Jordan and Shaw hate having to ask their best friend Stephanie to help them find a mate, especially because she’s the hottest lover they’ve ever had, and they want her for themselves. The boys will have their hands full convincing Steph that rules are made to be broken, before it is too late.
Never.
Stephanie shook the heavy ceremonial robe, the fabric soft in her hands, and sighed. Maybe it was time to take it to the dry cleaners. Obviously Woolite wasn’t doing it. She hung it over the back of her grandmother’s rocking chair. Tomorrow she would worry about the robe. Tonight the boys were coming over.
Tonight she’d be coming, over and over, if she was lucky.
Jordan and Shaw were worth shaving her legs for. They were worth all the fancy lotion she smeared on her body. They were...well, they were a force of nature.
She grabbed her broom and swept the floor, picking up the little bits of herb and candle wax and fur. Pyewacket was already in her spot atop the big wardrobe in the dining room that held Steph’s supplies, black tail hanging down.
A soft yowl sounded as she came close and she reached up, tweaked Wacky’s tail. “I know, sweet lady, but it’s almost the full moon, and Goddess knows I’m not getting any hot, hunky loving outside of the two of them.”
Wacky’s yellow eyes glowed in the dim light, seeming to tell her what an idiot she was. That cat was expressive, almost magically so.
“Two years and I get about four orgasms per full moon. That’s not bad for one night a month?” It was close to perfect, really. She got her freedom to work, update the website, create her spell kits and ship them out. The day before the full moon she saved for her best boys.
They were horny then, and they put aside their worries about the pack to come to her. They worried about their pack a lot, apparently. She was like their mother confessor a little.
Which, okay, whoa. Not sexy, with the holster hips and the penguin-outfit thing.
No, today was tight jeans and a tank top, a see-through shimmery top in the same color as her eyes, deep and dark. Hrm…but they loved her in green, though she teased them about dogs being color blind. Oh, the green sundress. She loved that and it was easy access.
Wacky yowled again and she chuckled, stroking the puffy tail on her way by. “I’m making them steaks, of course. They’re bringing dessert. You, lady, are getting tuna so you can hide in the library.”
Tuna for her cat, a nice long shower for her, then sizzle the steaks on either side for her boys.
It was a good plan.
* * * *
“Do you think she’ll help?”
Jordan stared at the dessert case, trying to decide between spice cake and those eclair thingees. He ignored Shaw’s question as best he could, not wanting to think about what they were about to ask Steph to do.
“Are you listening to me? Do you think she’ll do it?” Shaw was one hell of a puppy some days, bouncing and moving constantly. Jordan wanted to snap at Shaw’s ear.
“I don’t know. Eclairs?” They were going to ask their lover to find them a mate who wasn’t her. Why would she help?
“I like eclairs. She likes the ones with chocolate.” Shaw looked closer. “Can I have pecan pies?”
“Only if you don’t pass out after we all fuck and leave me to talk to her alone.” Such. A. Pup.
“I won’t!”
The little girl behind the counter gasped, turned bright red, and Shaw’s head ducked.
“Sorry, honey.” Jordan smiled a little, not wanting to bare his teeth. “We need two eclairs, a spice cake and two of the pecan pies.”
“Sure. Do you want any cookies? We have snickerdoodles.”
Snickerdoodles. Wow.
“No. No more sugar for this one.” He jerked his thumb at Shaw.
“Hey!” Bright green eyes flashed up at him from under the unruly shock of big red hair.
“I’m getting you pies.” He popped Shaw’s ass, loving that squeak.
They got another wide-eyed look from the little girl behind the counter. Wow. Wow. He had to watch his damn mouth. He was just so fucking horny, this time of the month. He could just toss Shaw down and fuck him raw. Thing was, that wouldn’t sate him. He needed Steph, too.
There was something about the pair of them—her sweet body, wrapped around his cock while Shaw took her mouth. Or Shaw’s ass working him while he watched his lover lick Steph’s creamy...
He groaned, and Shaw stared at him, sporting an amazing hard-on and a look of pure lust. Damn it.
They were never going to manage to just talk to her. Never. They needed her help, though.
“We need to go.” Shaw’s voice was pure rumble, very little human.
“Get it together, baby.” It was just stress. The moon coming. That shit.
“Here you go.” The girl handed over the bag with the pastry, pulling her hand back as though they might bite her.
He didn’t even bother handing her the cash, leaving it on the counter to give the poor girl space. “Keep the change, honey.”
“Thanks.” Jordan grabbed Shaw and dragged him out.
“Teasing asshole. Fuck, I smell you.”
“Hush.” They needed to stop revving up, at least until they got in the truck. They were going to embarrass themselves.
“Uh-huh.” Shaw bounced a little bit, the shithead. Jordan had to wonder whether Nyla had given him espresso this morning.
“I mean it, Shaw. I’ll tie you up when we get to Steph’s.” That made his pup crazy, being forced to be still.
“You won’t.” Shaw groaned, almost rubbed against him.
“I will, baby. I’ll make you scream.”
As crazy making as Shaw was, his sweet mate could make his mouth dry, make him ache for it. He loved that boy to distraction. He reached over and touched Shaw’s thigh.
The lean muscles jerked and jumped, shifted under his fingers, even the cloth of Shaw’s jeans not hiding the movement. Shaw’s cock pressed hard against the zipper, and Jordan had to fight the urge to open those jeans and take that hardness into his hand.
“I hope she’s ready for us.” Shaw panted, licked his lips. “I want you.”
“I want you, baby. I want both of you. I can’t wait to strip you down and do you while you lick her.” He wanted to just grab Shaw by the hair and fuck that pretty mouth. Christ, his hands were shaking.
“I could suck you, now, before we get there. I so could.”
“No.” No, they had to wait. It was important not to dilute the sex magick. Steph had taught them that. They would need every drop, so to speak.
“Asshole.” Shaw gave him a low, pouty growl.
“You want this to work, baby?” He finally handed the bag of pastry to Shaw and got the truck going.
“I don’t know...” Shaw sighed, fastened his seat belt, eyes facing out the window, watching the Rockies. “I don’t want to lose her. I like Steph.”
“I know, baby.” He didn’t want to end their friendship with Steph, either, but the pack was breathing down their neck. They were supposed to be good little wolves and settle down.
“If we find her, our mate I mean, it’ll be good, right? We won’t care that we’re losing Steph?”
Well, Steph had always made it clear that this was just fun and games, hadn’t she? Three buds hanging out, drinking beer, sharing orgasms? They even watched football together. Besides, she knew what they were, knew they couldn’t mate with someone for life who wasn’t one of them.
He smacked Shaw’s shoulder, just a little too hard. “It’ll be cool. We’ll be stupid in love and wanting to make puppies.”
Right?
Right.

Song of the Oceanides
by J.G. Zymbalist
GENRE: YA Fantasy
31 August.
Rory Slocum had only just returned home from Putnam’s General Store and Newsagent when he noticed the girl standing in the heart of the garden. She seemed to be lost in the music of the wind chimes dangling from Mother’s lilac tree. Still, despite the girl’s seeming innocence, somehow he just knew that she must be one of the Oceanides who had been taunting him all summer long.
She must have heard his footsteps in the salty afternoon breeze because she turned to look upon him. What a comely girl too.
A bit of jam and then some! He stopped in his tracks and studied her classical features.
She had plum-black hair, eyes of sea green, bold chiseled planes to her face, fine hallowed cheeks, and a sharp jaw line. How could she be anything but an Oceanide?
Slowly he advanced as far as the fog cannon where he paused a second time. Perhaps he would do something so as to entertain her, and once she realized how amusing he could be, she would tell the others to leave him be. He walked over to the lilac tree. “Look what I’ve got here!” With that he held up his copy of Sir Pilgarlic Guthrie’s Phantasy Retrospectacle.
She must have resented the whole notion that a boy like Rory would even think to approach someone like her. Grimacing, she called to another girl who had just walked up through the gale-torn bluffs. The two of them spoke in a tongue resembling the Byzantine Greek in which the drunken churchwarden sometimes delivered his public addresses.
As giddy as ever, Rory advanced a few more steps. “You know what they call this sort of picture book, do you? Down at Putnam’s, they tell me it’d be un comique pittoresque. Just like the newsagents sell down there in Paris.” Now he pointed to the picture on the dust jacket—the Oceanides’ long flowing hair and the mint-cream linen gowns reaching down to their ankles. Afterward he pointed at the girls themselves standing there in their own creamy-white gowns. “Sir Pilgarlic Guthrie, he’s the bettermost! Everything bang up to the elephant and—”
“Have you any idea how odd you are?” the first Oceanide asked. “And you’ll be beginning your fifth year in school next fall, isn’t that right? They’ll tear you apart, a beanpea like you.”
The author returned to the piece while working for the Martha’s Vineyard Historical Society, May-September, 2005. He completed the full draft in Ellsworth, Maine later that year.

Certainly not. I’m very uncool. Still, I think it would be exciting to be married to a woman with tattoos. I certainly don’t have anything against it, and I’ve heard that some women with tattoos prefer a husband who is a little bit bland in his own tastes. Bland is definitely me.
Is your life anything like it was two years ago?
It is precisely the same. Ever since I began writing full time, I find myself lost in the page. Years blend into one another. Nothing ever changes. And that’s just fine with me. I’m very introverted.
How long have you been writing?
I’ve been writing all my life, but I threw almost all of it away. The only thing I really have left is what remains of my NA Middle-Eastern epic. Decades ago, when I was in my twenties, I wrote the rough draft as I was night clerking in a series of Palestinian youth hostels in the Old City of Jerusalem. It’s a historical fantasy all about the British Empire during the First World War. I do plan to self-publish the piece in a few years. There is very little sex and violence, so I see no reason to query the agents.
What advice would you give a new writer just starting out?
Write only if you have to. Oh, and put lots of sex and violence into the text if you want the gatekeepers to like it.
Tell us something about your newest release that is NOT in the blurb.
I believe my book, Song of the Oceanides, to have therapeutic power. My father was a physician, and my mother was a registered nurse, so I guess it’s in my blood. If you slip into my story, the cathartical elements can and will do you some good. I’m sure of it. I’m a little bit like the Blues Brothers in the sense that I sort of feel I’m “on a mission from God.” Or perhaps I should just say that I do have a conscience and do wish to write the sort of books that can help others cope with the facts of life.

Even knowing the risks, I have to find him. I have to find some way to protect him, the way he protected me. But he isn't the boy I left behind. He's a violent man. A criminal. And he's been waiting for me--the final pawn in a dark game of survival and love.

An unnatural darkness weighs down on me, keeping me from waking up—a demon’s whisper in my ear. You’re warm, you’re safe. Sleep.
But something is wrong.
I remember falling asleep, so suddenly, remember drinking water that I hadn’t filled. And I remember the phone call from Amy telling me that Giovanni’s alive. Impossible.
Awareness pricks my skin like a cold breeze. Wherever I am, I’m not alone.
I blink rapidly, forcing my eyes open. They adjust to the darkness quickly, taking in the tinted windows on either side and the wide leather bench curving beneath me. I’m in a car. A limo, to be exact. And it’s moving.
On the opposite side of the long space, a large body reclines. I can see the wide stance of his legs, the pale white of his shirt. A suit jacket tossed beside his hip. His face is hidden in the shadows of the vehicle.
I was raised by the head of the Las Vegas mafia, the capo. I grew up around guns and violence, so I know when a man is armed. It’s the way he holds himself, the warning shimmering around him like a dark halo.
This man is armed and extremely dangerous.
Every muscle in my body tenses. My mind still swims in thick water, because I must have been drugged. He drugged me, this faceless man. Why did he take me? It won’t be anything good, that’s for sure.
Even worse, I suspect this has something to do with my past, with my family. It’s messed up that I’d rather be taken by some random psycho. But at least then I’d have a chance of getting away.
“Who are you?” I demand, my voice hoarse from whatever drugs they gave me.
There’s a long pause, the weight of his regard as heavy as a finger trailing down my neck.
“Have I really changed that much, bella, that you don’t recognize me?”

Rachel A. Marks
(The Dark Cycle #3)
Published by: Skyscape
Publication date: October 13th 2016
Genres: Fantasy, Young Adult
The forces of Darkness have only gotten stronger as Aidan struggles to control his newly awakened abilities that seem to be his only hope for fixing the mess he made by waking up his little sister, Ava, who seems to think it’s all a game as she taunts him and begins a torturous game of cat and mouse. And while Rebecca isn’t sure where she fits in the fight, one thing she does know is that something has gone very wrong inside her. And uncovering what it is could upend any hope Aidan has to save the lives of everyone he’s grown to love.
Everything he’s built, everything he’s fought for until now, hangs in the balance—as well as the fate of the world. Now Aidan and the Lights he’s brought together must take their true place to fight the forces rising from the shadows at a startling rate, forces trying to tear them apart. But when Aidan can’t save the one thing he needs the most, he begins to wonder if he’ll have anything true left to hold on to in the end.
