Meet the Author:

Christine Amsden has been writing fantasy and science fiction for as long as she can remember. She loves to write and it is her dream that others will be inspired by this love and by her stories. Speculative fiction is fun, magical, and imaginative but great speculative fiction is about real people defining themselves through extraordinary situations. Christine writes primarily about people and relationships, and it is in this way that she strives to make science fiction and fantasy meaningful for everyone. At the age of 16, Christine was diagnosed with Stargardt’s Disease, which scars the retina and causes a loss of central vision. She is now legally blind, but has not let this slow her down or get in the way of her dreams. Christine currently lives in the Kansas City area with her husband, Austin, who has been her biggest fan and the key to her success.  This was a really neat book to read! This is the first book by Christine Amsden  that I've read- and I am incredibly impressed! Her writing is extremely well executed and the details she put into building the world and societies are incredibly complex! The storyline was a very unique blend of vampires, psychics and magic that was completely original and absolutely captivating. The characters were believable and detailed with very palpable emotions. Since I just gave birth to my second lil one less than a month ago, I felt extremely empathetic towards Kaitlin trying to protect lil Jay and her race to get him to safety! Fast-paced with tons of plot twists and lots of action, I was completely enthralled reading this tale from the very first page until the very end! The roller coaster of emotions I felt was a delight to experience! This was an extremely well written book that I would definitely recommend to anybody and everybody, no matter their tastes in genre- it has a little bit of everything skillfully thrown in!
