About the Book
The Subtle Beauty
by Ann Hunter (Crowns of the Twelve Book One) A cursed prince. A vain beauty. Glory is the seventh daughter of Balthazar, High King of the Twelve Kingdoms. Glory hopes that - of all her sisters - she can escape the fate of a loveless marriage. But on the night she plans to elope with the royal falconer, her world comes crashing down: Her father announces Glory's betrothal to Eoghan of the Blood Realm - a prince no one has ever seen. The prince is said to be a recluse, cursed and deformed by the gods for the sins of his power-hungry father. Yet when Glory is trapped in Blackthorn Keep she discovers that not everything is what she expected. An insulting gryphon, a persistent ghost, and a secret plan to usurp the prince keep Glory reeling. Can she overcome her vanity to learn that what you want isn’t necessarily what you need—and save the cursed prince? My Thoughts
This is a really nice touching story with amazing potential to be much more! The storyline is fantastic even though the writer seems a little sketchy and disjointed at times. The characters are very believable and you can really connect with Glory. I was completely enthralled with the story and found myself thinking about it even while I wasn't reading it. I wish she would've gone a little more into detail sometimes and elaborated some more by adding more depth to Eoghan- you barely got to know him! Nevertheless, I thoroughly enjoyed reading The Subtle Beauty from start to finish. With a little touching up, this could really be a heartrending fantasy!

About the Book:
Fifteen-year-old Ashira just received the worst coming-of-age prophecy imaginable. After years dreaming of oceans, princes, and fairies, she expected the diviner to prophesy she would live a life of adventure outside her ordinary desert village. Instead Ashira hears, “you will live a life of no renown.” Ready to choose her own fate, she discovers a djinni’s bottle and starts making wishes. When the djinni proves uncooperative and annoying, Ashira sets out to the great city of magicians to learn magic and free herself from an uneventful life as a potter's daughter. But there is another prophecy being whispered in the shadows. It is said that among the great magicians, there is a demon on the rise with the power to destroy the world. The djinni might be Ashira’s only chance to become someone important, or he just might be the very demon that triggered the dark prophecy. With the world on the brink of destruction, can Ashira fight her fate and stop the forces that threaten to upset the balance of the universe? My Thoughts:
I absolutely loved this book, it was a pure joy to read! Packed with adventure, action and a hint of romance, it kept me hooked from the first page. The characters were intricate and believable without getting too deep into dramatic emotions. The storyline was fantastic and fast-paced without any dull moments. It was so hard to put this book down that I found myself reading at every chance I could get! It was a true pleasure indulging myself in this read and I'm left daydreaming about being in the story myself. I cant wait to read more by this author!

I love coloring, especially with my six year old son! Coloring is a wonderful way to de-stress and relax with some nice quiet time. I especially love coloring mandelas or other coloring books like this one!
The Amazing Kittens coloring book is so adorable! It has 74 pages of cute little kitty cats in all kinds of different poses and activities. Each page is one sided so you don't have to worry about markers ruining pictures on the other side. The pages are of a thinner material, so I suggest using colored pencils as the best medium. Each picture is very intricate and you can just get lost in a calm zone while coloring! I had a really nice time coloring one of these yesterday to just relax and it was a lot of fun!

About the Book: From the internationally bestselling authors who brought you the Krinar Chronicles comes a captivating tale of intrigue, love, and danger in a world where sorcery is entwined with science . . . Once a respected member of the Sorcerer Council and now an outcast, Blaise has spent the last year of his life working on a special magical object. The goal is to allow anyone to do magic, not just the sorcerer elite. The outcome of his quest is unlike anything he could’ve ever imagined – because, instead of an object, he creates Her. She is Gala, and she is anything but inanimate. Born in the Spell Realm, she is beautiful and highly intelligent – and nobody knows what she’s capable of. She will do anything to experience the world . . . even leave the man she is beginning to fall for. Augusta, a powerful sorceress and Blaise’s former fiancée, sees Blaise’s deed as the ultimate hubris and Gala as an abomination that must be destroyed. In her quest to save the human race, Augusta will forge new alliances, becoming tangled in a web of intrigue that stretches further than any of them suspect. She may even have to turn to her new lover Barson, a ruthless warrior who might have an agenda of his own . . . My Thoughts: Absolutely intriguing! I was completely captivated from the first page! The ideas were fresh, the action plentiful and it even had a small smattering of innocent romance. The characters were believable and the plot was intriguing. It was pretty fast-paced and could use a little more detail, but stayed interesting during the entire book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and am highly anticipating the sequel! It definitely leaves you with an unfulfilled cliffhanger at the end! A master storyteller, Stephen R. Donaldson established a worldwide reputation with his unforgettable, critically acclaimed fantasy series The Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant. Then, with The Real Story and Forbidden Knowledge, he launched a thrilling new science fiction series. Now the galactic epic continues as humanity struggles against the forces of ultimate evil--and its own dark nature. The stage is set of confrontation at Billingate--illegal shipyard, haven for pirates and brigands, where every vice flourishes and every appetite can be sated. Gateway to the alien realm of the Amnion, the shipyard is a clearinghouse for all they require to fulfill their mutagenic plans against humanity. It is here that the fate of Morn Hyland is to be decided amid a kaleidoscopic whirl of plot and counterplot, treachery and betrayal. As schemes unravel to reveal yet deeper designs, Morn, Nick, Angus' lives may all be forfeit as pawns in the titanic game played our between Warden Dios, dedicated director of the UMC Police, and the Dragon, greed-driven ruler of the UMC. Here, the future of humankind hangs on the uncertain fortune of Morn Hyland in a daring novel of epic power and suspense, relentlessly gripping from first page to last. My thoughts: Absolutely absorbing! The series really gets a lot more complex in this third novel, expanding to many more characters and devious plots. While the first book was quite a bit randy, and the second a little racy, this one isn't spicy like that at all. The characters are far more developed than ever before. The storyline is utterly absorbing and its a roller coaster of plots and twists. I am completely hypnotized by this series and can't wait to absorb the next book now! It's definitely becoming one of my beloved series on my bookshelf! The Gap Into Vision - Forbidden Knowledge (Gap#2) by Stephen R. Donaldson
Author of The Chronicles Of Thomas Covenant, one of the most acclaimed fantasy series of all time, master storyteller Stephen R. Donaldson retums with the second book in his long-awaited new science fiction series--a story about dark passions, perilous alliances, and dubious heroism set in a stunningly imagined future. Beautiful, brilliant, and dangerous, Morn Hyland is an ex-police officer for the United Mining Companies--and the target of two ruthless, powerful men. One is the charismatic ore-pirate Nick Succorso, who sees Morn as booty wrested from his vicious rival, Angus Thermopyle. thermopyle once made the mistake of underestimating Morn and now he's about to pay the ultimate price. Both men think they can possess her, but Morn is no one's trophy--and no one's pawn. Meanwhile, withing the borders of Forbidden Space, wait the Amnioin, an alien race capable of horrific atrocities. The Amnion want something unspeakable from humanity--and they will go to unthinkable lengths to get it. My thoughts: While some people seem disgusted by this series, I was actually quite intrigued! This second book was quite a bit better than the first one! The characters are more well developed and the storyline is very catching. While still dark and twisted , it repeatedly stretches the boundaries of what the human species is capable of. Personally, I think if you can't handle the mild insanity of this book, go back to reading fluffy happily-ever-after sappy books! It really isn't that bad! I'm thoroughly looking forward to delving into the third book now! About the Book:
Author of The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant, one of the most acclaimed fantasy series of all time, master storyteller Stephen R. Donaldson returns with this exciting and long-awaited new series that takes us into a stunningly imagined future to tell a timeless story of adventure and the implacable conflict of good and evil within each of us. Angus Thermopyle was an ore pirate and a murderer; even the most disreputable asteroid pilots of Delta Sector stayed locked out of his way. Those who didn't ended up in the lockup--or dead. But when Thermopyle arrived at Mallory's Bar & Sleep with a gorgeous woman by his side the regulars had to take notice. Her name was Morn Hyland, and she had been a police officer--until she met up with Thermopyle. But one person in Mallory's Bar wasn't intimidated. Nick Succorso had his own reputation as a bold pirate and he had a sleek frigate fitted for deep space. Everyone knew that Thermopyle and Succorso were on a collision course. What nobody expected was how quickly it would be over--or how devastating victory would be. It was common enough example of rivalry and revenge--or so everyone thought. The REAL story was something entirely different. In The Real Story, Stephen R. Donaldson takes us to a remarkably detailed world of faster-than-light travel, politics, betrayal, and a shadowy presence just outside our view to tell the fiercest, most profound story he has ever written. MY THOUGHTS: I've actually had this series in my shelves for a while, just never got around to reading it until the other night. I actually found it very absorbing and almost finished the book in one night of reading! The language is a little foul, and it has a mind-control/rape theme going on, but compared to some of the other books I'm reading today, I found it pretty mild. The storyline was pretty engrossing and it was definitely hard for me to put down! I found the book very original, and I couldn't wait to dive into the second book as soon as I finished this one! About the Book:
A water witch, Isabelle Novak has always led a chaotic, nomadic existence. But her life spins out of control when her sister—her only friend and emotional anchor—is killed by a demon. Driven by grief and a desire for revenge, she turns her back on the Coven and its sacred rede: Harm ye none... When Isabelle first encounters Thomas Monahan, she's running on pure rage and sorrow, channeling her pain into power—and trying to freeze the life out of a warlock she holds responsible for her sister's death. Together, she and Thomas form an uneasy alliance to hunt and destroy a demon of tremendous power. As head of the Coven, earth witch Thomas must thwart Isabelle's dark impulses, but his very presence stirs deeper desires she never knew she had. My thoughts: While I definitely enjoyed this one, I thought it wasn't as great as the first one. While not as steamy, it still has a great plot and I really enjoyed how it tied in demons from another dimension. This one is more of a murder/action book with a little bit of romance thrown in. It's a great book, but after reading the first one, it was a slight change of pace than what I expected. The characters are well developed and very interesting, just not so hot romance-wise. About the book:
Mira Hoskins doesn't know she's a natural-born witch who possesses the rare—and powerful—element of air. And she never expects to find herself tied to a mahogany bed frame, captive of a man who aches to fulfill her every desire and let loose the magick that dwells inside her. Heat emanates from elemental fire witch Jack McAllister. The Coven, a governing authority of witches, has sent him to protect Mira from a band of warlocks who drain witches of power...and life. Long ago, he saw Mira's parents murdered by this same dark magick. He'd like to quell his guilt and offer her everything she deserves. But she's the long-lost cousin of his boss—making seduction off-limits. With Jack's strong guidance, Mira is luring forth her inner magick. But his sense of duty is quickly swelling into insatiable hunger. He was warned about the natural attraction between air and fire. Now he risks being consumed by the woman he shouldn't want—but can't stay away from. My thoughts: I really enjoyed this book! It grabbed me with the first line -"He looked like sin and seemed like salvation" , and just kept me in it's clutches for the whole ride! It had a very gripping plot and did I mention it was HOT?! Very steamy scenes, lots of action, and I loved Jack's bondage fixation! I zipped through this book because it was so darn hard to put down! There were a few times I just wanted them to get on with it and get in the bedroom, but the action definitely kept it very interesting. I definitely loved this book and am anticipating reading the sequel! |
